This is actually very good news for consumers. With the every growing market of Streaming Services and the move from dedicated cable programming, DIRECTV is offering a no satellite, no contract, internet-based streaming platform comparable to their satellite based packages. This is a huge plus
I no longer have to have a satellite on my home to get DIRECTV?
This is correct. With the new 'STREAM IT' option you are able to get a DIRECTV Stream package with NO SATELLITE DISH ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR HOME. You do however need an internet connection to make this work, but who doesn't have internet these days? This is great for apartments, townhomes, rentals, vacation homes, etc... No permanent dish on a pole or eve of your home.
Do I get the NFL Sunday Ticket? The Sunday Ticket has moved to YouTube TV.. however, DIRECTV WAS offering you a credit via prepaid visa debit card that will cover the cost of The Sunday Ticket. This promo has ended as of the 17th of October, but there are promotions coming out all the time.
Is DIRECTV still partnered with AT&T?!
No - AT&T and DIRECTV have gone their separate ways. However if you are a current subscriber and have promotions or discounts (Such as HBO MAX, or a grandfathered -in package) you will still see these reflected on your bill and will not see any changes reflected in pricing or service (I assume for now).
I have DISH NETWORK now, but I want to switch from the dish service...

What's the catch?!
With no contracts and no hidden fees it's hard to find anything suspect in the this new service. DIRECTV is even offering $10 off for 24 months: For new customers only. Offer runs October 17, 2023 – January 6, 2024. This is only on the DIRECTV Stream plan - not satellite, but given that their cheapest streaming plan is around $50.. you are going to be paying less than Hulu LIVE, YouTube TV, or anything of the other major players in the streaming realm. With Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu raising their prices seemingly every month - this is looking like a great alternative.
